Scope and Aims

  • Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is a bimonthly, international, peer-reviewed, research journal devoted to the fields of veterinary diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Established in 1958, it is the official journal of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, Australasian Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Brazilian Veterinry Radiology Association, European Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and the International Veterinary Radiology Association. Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is also represented on the Committee on Publication Ethics.
  • The mission of Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is to serve as a leading resource for high quality articles that advance scientific knowledge and standards of clinical practice in the areas of veterinary diagnostic radiology, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonography, nuclear imaging, radiation oncology, and interventional radiology. Manuscript types include original investigations, imaging diagnosis reports, review articles, editorials and letters to the Editor. Acceptance criteria include originality, significance, scientific quality, reader interest, composition and adherence to author guidelines.
  • The time from submission to first decision averages 31 days. Currently papers are published online with a DOI and Pubmed ID on Wiley-Blackwell’s “EarlyView” within 60 working days from the date of final edit.

  • The 2018 impact factor for VRU is 1.129.  JCR Rank is 61/141 in the Veterinary Sciences category.

There are two ways to subscribe to Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound:

  • Join an ACVR Society/Renew Society Membership - The ACVR handles access and all Journal subscriber information. Membership in the ACVR Ultrasound, CT/MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and Large Animal Diagnostic Imaging Societies includes a Journal subscription. You will receive both online access and printed issues. If you wish to conserve paper, to request online-only access, please contact the Webmaster using the Contact Us email form. However, there is no change in subscription price.
  • Subscribe to the Journal Only - No ACVR Society Membership. Subscription directly through Wiley Online Library. Wiley Online Library handles access and all Journal subscriber information.

Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound iOS App

We have been working with Wiley Online Library to develop a VRU iOS App for ACVR members. The App allows access to the previous 12 months of Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound from your iPhone or iPad. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to get access on your mobile device:

1) Go to the App Store using your iPhone or iPad.
2) Search for "Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound” to find the VRU App.
3) Download to your iPhone or iPad.
4) Open and select "I already have access".
5) Select "Through my society affiliation".
6) Login with the same username and password that you use to login to the ACVR website.
7) Your access will last for 90 days and then you will need to log back in.

  • Online-Only Journal Option - If you wish to conserve paper, to request online-only access, please contact the Webmaster using the Contact Us email form. However, there is no change in subscription price.
  • Get New Content Alerts - If you would like to receive Journal content alerts electronically after choosing the online-only subscription option, go to the Journal page at Wiley Online Library and choose 'Get New Content Alerts' under Journal Tools at thet top-left of the page. After signing up for an account at Wiley, you can choose to get 'Table of Contents' alerts for any of their journals.
  • Anywhere Article - This new layout presents Journal HTML articles in a clutter-free way for easy reading as well as optimizes the reading experience for any device. Please see Anywhere Article link in right sidebar for more information. Check out Anywhere Article IMMEDIATELY in the current and previous online Journal issues. This new functionality goes nicely with the new online-only subscription option we now have in place.
